Southern Arizona NORML joined Mikel Weisser, state director of Arizona NORML, to spend the weekend of February 15th and 16th doing outreach and collecting signatures for the Smart and Safe Arizona Act in both Santa Cruz and Cochise Counties. On February 15th, Mike Robinette (director of Southern Arizona NORML) joined Mikel Weisser in Santa Cruz County and spent time in Nogales, Patagonia and Sonoita. Mikel Weisser spoke at the Santa Cruz County Democrats meeting and discussed the history of cannabis and current reforms including legalization through the Smart and Safe Arizona Act.
After a lovely lunch at Cocina La Ley in Nogales, Mikel and Mike headed to Patagonia where they collected signatures outside of the Gathering Grounds Espresso Bar, Deli and Ice Cream shop. We truly appreciated the hospitality of Andy Wood, owner of Gathering Grounds and mayor of Patagonia. Mikel and Mike then headed to Sonoita and tabled there as well. On Sunday, February 16th, Southern Arizona NORML (Mike Robinette, Tony Landry, Michelle Landry, and Edwin Halstead) joined Mikel Weisser in Bisbee and Tombstone to do outreach and collect signatures. It was a great weekend of activism and we’d like to thank everyone in Santa Cruz and Cochise County for their support. We’ll be back soon!
